I haven't done much online in a long time that required a username, so when the invite to Ravelry came, I thought long and hard about what name to use.
Sure.. I could use my real name - "Dona" - and since I've only run across a few others with the lone 'N', it's a little unique. But I wanted something a bit more unusual and definitely more clever.
I thought about resurrecting an old online name, but those were from a different lifetime ago. Then I had the brainstorm to borrow on my little used Welsh heritage and combine it with my fiber interests - and voila - TroElli.
In Welsh, 'troelli' is a verb meaning "to spin, to twist, to wind, to meander or to involve". For a spinner/knitter/crocheter who is posting a blog for the the first time and inviting others to view those thoughts, well it seemed rather apt.
I have a few projects in the works and am working on getting my stash all combined into one spot so I can take some pix to post. It's kind of a daunting yet exciting prospect to actually catalog all the crap you have squirreled away. I have some great yarn that I 'just had to have' and it's still just sitting there. I guess it's just a matter of the right pattern, the right yarn and the right inspiration aligning at the right time. I guess we'll see what evolves from all this discovery.
